1. First Church in Cambridge

Recognized as the 11th oldest church congregation in New England, the First Church in Cambridge has been around since the 1630s. Currently led by senior minister Daniel Smith, it has also become one of the most popular Christian churches in Cambridge as years have passed. They have a welcoming atmosphere, allowing people of all races, genders, sexual orientations, and lifestyles.

They instruct from the Bible and follow the teaching set forth by God under the direction of their leaders. Church members are instructed to honor their bodies as a means of respect since they were made in God’s image.

2. Christ Church Cambridge

Reverend Kathryn N. Elledge is the interim priest for Christ Church Cambridge and is joined by many other lay members and vestry. This Episcopal church in Cambridge has been around since 1857 and currently teaches from the Book of Common Prayer (1979). But they also leave the door open for new books and documents that provide opportunities for more contemporary and modernized worship services.

Worship services include preaching, songs from their choir, and group discussions about the blessing God has for members of their congregation.

3. Hope Fellowship Church

Curtis Cook has been the Senior Pastor of Hope Fellowship Church since it first started back in September 2003. Held in their white pillar and red brick building, this congregation has expanded into one of the biggest Baptist churches in Cambridge.

4. Saint Mary of the Annunciation Parish

As one of the largest Catholic churches in Cambridge, Saint Mary of the Annunciation Parish represents gospel values of faith and repentance. Following Roman Catholic practices, Reverend Michael Harrington leads this congregation as they follow the worldwide counsel shared by the Pope.

Partaking in all the holy sacraments, recognizing the rosary, and serving communion are all shared within this building. Members can also visit for confessionals, group study, and more. There you will learn many of their standard prayers as you learn to pray for others and for yourself.

5. Faith Lutheran Church – Cambridge

As the only Lutheran church in Cambridge that you’ll find on this list, Faith Lutheran Church boasts a unique building and follows the teachings and standards set forth by Martin Luther in the early 16th century. Reverend Robin Lutjohann leads this local congregation as its head pastor.

Pulling some aspects of Catholic beliefs, the main basis of Lutheranism is that mankind is saved solely through faith, God’s grace, and following teachings from the Bible. Faith Lutheran Church leaders preach that men and women are natural sinners and these are the only ways they can return to heaven.

6. Cambridge Seventh-day Adventist Church

While their name represents one of their main beliefs that the Sabbath is on Saturday, the Cambridge Seventh-day Adventist Church also has a key focus on Jesus Christ. The leader of this Cambridge church is Pastor Edsel B. Cadet, who has filled the role since 2013.

7. Old Cambridge Baptist Church

While the Old Cambridge Baptist Church has only been around since the 1980s, the gorgeous building where they meet was built over 150 years ago. Currently led by Reverend Cody J. Sanders, Ph.D, they have long been established as one of the top Baptist churches in Cambridge.

Offering a safe place of acceptance and inclusion, they actively invite people of all races, LGBTQ lifestyles, ages, and other demographics to join them in worshipping their God. Once a month, they provide the communion or Eucharist, while also focusing on the example set by Jesus during his earthly ministry.

8. Cambridge Community Fellowship Church

Centered around their three core beliefs in God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit, members of Cambridge Community Fellowship stand as a non-denominational Cambridge church. Led by Senior Pastor Larry Kim and Pastor of Worship Jason Yung, lead their mission as they strive to teach others how “the Holy Spirit transforms individuals into wholeness in Christ”.

9. St. Paul Parish – Cambridge

If you want to see some beautiful Roman Catholic architecture in one of the most spectacular Cambridge churches, you may need to visit St. Paul Parish. Originally built between the years of 1916 to 1924, it has recently been renovated to freshen up many aspects of its structure and artwork.

Paired with its magnificent construction, Reverend William T. Kelly leads the way in following Roman Catholic services that include baptism, confirmation, the Eucharist, and sacraments. Their belief is centered around the Holy Trinity of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

10. Aletheia Church

Another one of the top non-denominational churches in Cambridge is the Aletheia Church, led by Pastor Adam Mabry. It’s meeting location is currently a large basketball gym but they are a fairly young congregation that is quickly gaining traction across the city.
